Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the GIPSA website need a new look and feel?
There was a Presidential mandate for all agencies to standardize the look and feel of their websites. This standardization includes having sections for the Top Navigation Bar, Left Navigation, Right Navigation, and Footer on each page of the website.

What is included in the Top Navigation Bar?
The Top Navigation Bar includes buttons to navigate to the Home, About GIPSA, News & Events, Forms, Help, and Contact Us pages.

What is included in the Left Navigation?
The Left Navigation includes the Search, Browse by Audience, and Browse by Subject sections. The Search box provides the functionality to use the Google search engine to search every webpage on the old GIPSA site, the current GIPSA site, and the USDA site. The Browse by Audience section allows users to navigate through webpages that relate to their specific audience type. The Browse by Subject section includes five important sub groupings that allow users to navigate through webpages for a specific subject area.

What is included in the Right Navigation?
The Right Navigation includes the Related Topics, I Want To, Hot Links, Media Help, and Reporting Violations sections. The Related Topics are specific to each page and allow users to navigate to sub pages under the audience and subject areas. The I Want To's link users to other important information related to the page it's located on. The Hot Links serve the same purpose as I Want To's in that they link users to additional information related to the specific page. I Want To's and Hot Links are not displayed on every page. The Media Help section allows users to download Adobe Acrobat Reader and Macromedia Flash Player. The Reporting Violations section takes the user to information on how to report abuses in the grain, livestock, meat, and poultry industries.

What is included in the Footer?
The Footer includes links to the GIPSA Home, USDA.gov, FAQs, Site Map, FOIA, Accessibility Statement, Privacy Policy, Nondiscrimination Statement, Information Quality, FirstGov, and White House. These links on the Footer will be displayed on each page of the GIPSA website.

Are there any tips on getting the information I need from GIPSA's website fast?
If you are not sure where the content you are looking for is, go to Help and then go to the Site Map. The Help button is located on the Top Navigation Bar and the Site Map link is located in the Related Topics section of the Right Navigation.

These questions cover the entire scope of USDA and all its mission areas.
