Benefits and Compensation

Most appointees will be entitled to many of the benefits that are offered to civil service employees or Public Health Service employees. These benefits include partial government contribution for health and life insurance, occupational medical services at NIH, compensation for work-related injury, vacation and sick leave, and training at government expense. Salaries or stipends will range from $16,000 to approximately $65,000 annually, depending on the candidate's education, experience, responsibilities, and type of appointment. The detailed compensation and benefit package will be available once the appointment mechanism is determined by the Institute.
