The
Animal Care Section (ACS) in the Clinical Center is primarily
responsible for care and use of research animals in the Clinical
Center intramural research program. Additionally, the ACS is responsible
for insuring all animals that enter the Clinical Center for therapy
or to provide service for Clinical Center patients meet appropriate
NIH guidelines. ACS actively participates in assuring that the
Clinical Center's researchers comply with all applicable regulations,
guidelines, and policies with regard to the use of animals in
research. The program is accredited by the Association for Assessment
and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International.
