The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Strategic Plan to Reduce Health Disparities is part of a major national commitment to identify and address the underlying causes of disease and disability in racial and ethnic communities throughout the country. Because these communities carry an unequal burden of cancer-related health disparities, NCI recognizes the need to greatly enhance our research, education, and training programs that target these pockets of need. From cancer prevention to clinical trials recruitment to cancer survivorship, the NCI Strategic Plan will help us understand the causes behind health disparities in cancer and to develop the most effective and culturally sensitive ways to work with underserved communities to eliminate these disparities.
The NCI invites comments on its Plan. Please send comments to Health_Disparities@pop.nci.nih.gov
