NCI announces a course for postdoctoral Fellows: MEDIA 101

Overview:
In interacting with the media, scientists are called upon to communicate scientific research and results in a way that improves scientific understanding among the public, and helps that public to make important health decisions in an increasingly complex world.  How the media reports scientific findings can have a huge impact on public behavior, and so it is critical that scientists understand how to interact effectively with reporters.  In order to permit a workshop experience that will allow attendees to practice the skills they have learned, enrollment will be limited to no more than 10 students per session.  The purpose of this course is to increase the scientist’s ability to communicate with the media.

Location and Time:
The course will be held in Bethesda and Frederick.
June 18, 2008, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Bethesda
July 16, 2008, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Frederick
