#800Basic PC Skills for NIH
 
Description:
This class is designed for the computer user who is interested in learning the basic skills necessary to work successfully in the NIH computing environment. The Microsoft XP operating system and the Microsoft Office 2003 application suite will be presented by instructor demonstration and hands-on exercises. The ability to log on to the NIH domain, accomplish basic tasks in the Office 2003 application suite, and log off successfully will be the focus of this class.
 
Objectives:
Students in this class will learn basic skills related to:
  • Navigating the "Desktop" of a Windows XP computer
  • Managing Files and Folders
  • Creating, editing, formatting, printing and saving a Microsoft Word document
  • Creating a basic spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel
  • Setting up a meeting in Outlook and inviting participants
  • Creating and sending email
  • Opening and running a PowerPoint slide show
  • Seeking information on the Internet
Who should attend:
NIH staff with very little or no experience with XP or the Office 2003 application suite.
