Development of a high throughput screening (HTSWG) program integral to the NTP's mission. The concept of HTS is based on the use of automated processes to evaluate hundreds to thousands of agents rapidly using in vitro systems. The HTS program will generate the requisite scientific information and understanding needed by health regulatory agencies to make decisions on potentially toxic materials that protect public health. The NTP is setting up the HTSWG of the NTP Board of Scientific Counselors to provide advice and guidance critical to development of the HTS program. The HTSWG shall continue until deemed by the NTP Board of Scientific Counselors as no longer necessary with approval by the NTP. The High Throughput Screening Working Group was terminated January 31, 2006.
