Summer Program
NIH "Using Animals in Intramural Research: Guidelines for Animal Users" - On-line Training
The training is computer-based and required for all summer students who will work with animals under the direction of a senior scientist.
NIH Policy Manual 3040-2, Animal Care and Use in the Intramural Program, requires that all personnel who work with animals be adequately trained to perform the tasks that are required by their job. The NIH Office of Animal Care and Use (OACU) offers free training for NIH intramural personnel who work with animals. The courses fulfill federal training requirements for working with animals.
