Stevens Congratulates Sen. Smith on Appointment to Lead Republican High Tech Task Force
McConnell Reappoints Stevens as Ex-Officio Member of Task Force

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) today congratulated Senator Gordon Smith (R-Ore.) on his appointment as Chairman of the Republican High Tech Task Force. Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also reappointed Senator Stevens as an Ex-Officio member of the task force.  The task force helps facilitate an exchange of views between the Senate and high tech industry, which generates many American jobs

“Sen. Smith will make a great contribution as Chairman of the Republican High Tech Task Force,” said Senator Stevens. “Oregon and the Pacific Northwest have long been part of America’s high tech corridor and Sen. Smith’s knowledge and experience representing that area of the country will serve him well.”

Other Senate Commerce Committee members of the Republican High Tech Task Force include:

Senator Jim DeMint, South Carolina
Senator John Ensign, Nevada
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Texas
Senator John Sununu, New Hampshire
