Prevention Study Is Recruiting People at Risk for Type 1 Diabetes

Genetics plays a role in whether or not a person develops type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. If you have a relative with type 1 diabetes, you may be at higher risk for getting this disease. To learn about participating in a clinical trial, the Diabetes Prevention Trial-Type 1 (DPT-1) , which is using oral insulin to prevent type 1 diabetes, call 1-800-HALT-DM-1.
