NIDDK Launches Customer Satisfaction Survey

February 1, 2001

In an online survey launched today, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health seeks comments from the public on the products and services of its three information clearinghouses:

  • National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse
  • National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse
  • National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse.

Anyone who has called, written, or emailed one of the clearinghouses for health information or other assistance with a health question should visit and respond to www.niddk.nih.gov/tools/survey.htm on the Internet.

Authorized by Congress, the three clearinghouses were established to increase knowledge and understanding about diabetes and digestive, kidney, and urologic diseases among people with these conditions and their families, health care professionals, and the public. To carry out this mission, the clearinghouses work closely with a coordinating panel of representatives from Federal agencies; voluntary organizations on the national, regional, and local levels; professional groups; and State health departments to identify and respond to information needs.

"The survey will be a valuable tool to help us design our products and services for the public," says Elizabeth Singer, director of NIDDK's Office of Communications and Public Liaison. "We will be able to generate reports from the survey that will help us focus our efforts in the areas that are most needed and wanted by our customers."

The survey will evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of clearinghouse services and will be available online, reviewed with customers on the telephone, and sent to customers through the mail. It will also be available for health professionals at conferences of national health associations.

This project has been funded in whole or part with Federal funds from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health, under contract no. N01-DK-8-2270.
