Her current focus is training in rodent toxicological pathology and in NTP related projects. Research Interests:
Biography:After graduating from veterinary school at the Mysore Veterinary College in 1992, Rao came to the U.S. to pursue a Master’s degree at Oklahoma State University in veterinary anatomy, and a doctorate in toxicology at the Health Sciences Center – University of Oklahoma. Her dissertation research focused on combined exposures of toxicants with noise on the auditory system based on occupational exposures. She continued research as a postdoctoral fellow at CIIT Centers for Health Research in RTP working on uptake of inhaled manganese to the brain. Following training in toxicology, she joined Covance Laboratories in Wisconsin as a study director overseeing preclinical toxicity studies for potential drugs and biologics. During her tenure at Covance, she completed board certification from the American Board of Toxicology in 2005. Rao then returned to the veterinary school in Madison in 2006 to begin the residency program in veterinary anatomic pathology. In June 2008, Rao joined the Cellular and Molecular Pathology Branch as a Research Fellow as she now prepares to take the ACVP board exams in 2009. |
