Welcome!

Welcome to the home page of the Molecular Recognition Section.

The section was created officially in 1993 by Dr. Kenneth A. Jacobson, Section Chief.

Our section is dedicated to the application of knowledge-based drug design and discovery. It encompasses pharmacology, molecular biology, and medicinal, and computational chemistry.

Our main focus is on purinoceptors (G protein-coupled receptors and ligand-gated ion channels for adenosine, ATP, and other nucleotides), but we work on other topics as well.

One of our projects is a database of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) related information.

the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry (LBC),

the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK),

the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

We also bring you the home page of the Purine Club, an organization of people involved in various aspects of purinoceptor research.

Here are two of our favorite links:

The NIH Center for Molecular Modeling.

Computational Molecular Biology at NIH.
