1. Technology Architecture Plan - Networks

a. Domain Team to Address IP6
  • The U.S. Government has specified that all Federal agencies must deploy Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) by 2008. It is expected that IPv4 will be supported until at least 2025, to allow time for bugs and system errors to be corrected. IPv6 is the second version of the Internet Protocol to be formally adopted for general use.
  • The Office of the Chief Information Technology Architect (OCITA) plans to work with the Center for Information Technology (CIT) Division of  Network Systems and Telecommunications to develop a plan for NIH to meet this requirement.
This plan is subject to change as business conditions change. Please check back often. Contact us if you have questions or concerns about the Program Plan.
