  • 4,384 new cases of diabetes are diagnosed

  • 195 non-traumatic lower limb amputations are performed

  • 128 people begin treatment for end-stage renal disease

  • 50 people develop blindness

  • 839 people die of diabetes or diabetes is a contributing cause of death
