IMPAC I Function Impact on ICs Available in IMPAC II Proposed Sunset Date ICs Affected
Scoring and Percentiling All scoring must be done in IMPAC II in Aug 2001. Since percentile calculation can be performed in one system only, once deployed in IMPAC II, percentiling will be disabled in the IMPAC I. IRG work files will no longer be used for score entry and for percentiling, although they WILL still be used for the creation of summary statement tops into December and CAN still be used for that purpose until the June 2002 Council round (see Summary Statement Generation, below).

Basic Peer Review training is recommended for GTAs and SRAs who are unfamiliar with entering scores in IMPAC II. Classes are available through HRDD (see trainingcenter.od.nih.gov). Procedures for entering scores are available online with the IMPAC II Review documentation.

Classes for two IC designated percentile administrators will be held on Jul 25 and Aug 14. Contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@od.nih.gov for more information.
Aug 2001

Note: Scoring has been available since 1999.
Aug 2001 CSR and IC Peer Review Groups
IC Interface System (Council Action and Data Changes) All functions currently performed using the IMPAC I IC Interface are now available through IMPAC II ICO. This includes change of data elements, council results and sweep, PCC/IC assignment, etc. Council work files will no longer be used.

HRDD has scheduled an IMPAC II ICO class on August 15. Online ICO documentation is available.

Summary Statement Generation Use of IMPAC II for summary statement generation will be required for the Jun 2002 council cycle. ICs are encouraged to participate in the current IMPAC II summary statement pilot. Participation in the pilot requires that summary statements be entered into IMPAC II and be released in IMPAC I. As of December, summary statements can be created and released in IMPAC II. IC's interested in participating in the pilot at this time should e-mail the Help Desk at helpdesk@od.nih.gov for more information. All SRAs and GTAs are encouraged to be trained by December, 2001.

Full deployment of IMPAC II summary statements will require program officials e-mail addresses to be maintained for internal notifications of summary statement availability. This can be accomplished via the IMPAC II User Administration module by updating the 'WRK' address type for Program Officials. See the online UA documentation.

Classes in the use of the Review module, which include summary statement generation, are available through HRDD (see trainingcenter.od.nih.gov). Training specific to summary statement generation will be offered two months before deployment. Dates for these classes will be announced in the Inside eRA newsletter and through the Review Users Group distribution list.
Now for Draft Summary Statements. Apr 2002 All ICs that Prepare Summary Statements
Printing Council Books & Aggregate Reporting of Summary Statements Beginning Dec 2001, IMPAC II will be the only compre-hensive source of summary statements. Individual summary statements may be generated in IMPAC I and bridged to IMPAC II; however, IMPAC II-generated summary statements will not be reverse bridged to IMPAC I.

In Dec 2001, the source for IMPAC II summary state-ments will be ECB. Also, IMPAC II Peer Review, ICO and QuickView will have a summary statement sort screen for requesting central printing and files for download. ICs need to replace IC Council Book batch jobs with IMPAC II or ECB equivalent functions. This change can be executed immediately.

ICs should contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@od.nih.gov if they need help converting current procedures to run from IMPAC II. Peer Review, ICO and Quick View training is offered through HRDD (see schedules at http://learningsource.od.nih.gov).
Now Dec 2001 All
Batch Uploads (Program Class Codes, 800 Series, etc.) Currently, many ICs are sending batch uploads to the IMPAC I nightly update. This will be turned off in Jan 2002. IMPAC II now provides several application program interfaces (APIs) to replace IMPAC I functionality. Note that ICO provides a facility for assigning multiple POs and PCCs. The ICO Grant Update module (GUM) allows for individual data updates. ICO documentation is available online.

ICs should contact the Help Desk for assistance in converting to the IMPAC II APIs. See the online documentation.
Now Jan 2002 All
Population Tracking An IMPAC II population tracking module is currently under development. Deployment is scheduled for May 2002. ICs should continue to use IMPAC I this year for FY 2000 population tracking data entry. FY 2001 data should be held for entry until the IMPAC II Population Tracking system is complete in May of FY 2002.

Training will be announced a minimum of two months before deployment through the Inside eRA newsletter and announcements by the Full Inclusion and Tracking Committee.
