Meeting Objectives of the September 2003 NCSAC Meeting:

  • To initiate full and complete review of all hypotheses and themes.
  • To develop specific instructions to Working Groups about next steps, including but not limited to: 1) exposures of concern, 2) developmental periods of concern, 3) outcomes that should be considered, 4) developmental or life stages at which those outcomes are evaluated, 5) gaps in thematic areas, 6) gaps in hypotheses, 7) highest priority foci for themes and hypotheses, and 8) collaboration needed across Working Groups.
  • To understand role as liaison to Working Groups. Discussions will also include updates regarding protocol development, "sampling" strategies, pilot studies, and workshops; development of effective procedures for managing the Study; processes to ensure effective communication; and modifications to the Study timeline.
  • Presentations will be offered by the following: Exposure to Chemical Agents Working Group, Injury Working Group, and the American Psychological Association
  • Thematic Sub-Groups to include: 1) Undesirable outcomes of pregnancy: birth defects and preterm birth; 2) Altered neurobehavioral development, development disabilities, and psychiatric outcomes; 3) Injury; 4) Asthma; and 5) Obesity and altered physical development.
