- P-Glycoprotein Function in Brain Diseases.
Evaluation study. This study will measure the function of a protein called P-glycoprotein (P-gp), which is found at the blood-brain barrier, a membrane that normally prevents toxic material from entering the brain. Ages 35 and over. Location in Bethesda, MD.
- PET Evaluation of Brain Peripheral Benzodiazepine Receptors Using [11C]PBR28 in Frontotemporal Dementia.
Evaluation study. This study will use positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to measure a receptor in the brain that is involved in inflammation. Ages 35 and over. Location in Bethesda, MD.
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Treating Anxiety in People With Dementia.
Interventional study. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in treating anxiety in older adults with dementia. Ages 60 and over. Location in Houston, TX.
- The Effects of Atomoxetine on Cognition and Brain Function Based on COMT Genotype.
Interventional study. This study will evaluate whether Atomoxetine improves cognition in healthy volunteers as well as patients with schizophrenia. Ages 18-45. Location in Bethesda, MD.
- Side Effects of Newer Antipsychotics in Older Adults.
Interventional study. This study will compare four atypical antipsychotic medications in terms of the risk of specific side effects each of them presents in middle-aged and elderly individuals. Ages 40 and over. Location in San Diego, CA.
- Using Behavioral Programs to Treat Sleep Problems in Individuals With Alzheimer's Disease.
Interventional study. This study will compare four different behavioral treatment programs to determine which is most effective in reducing night-time disturbances in individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Ages 55 and over. Location in Seattle, WA.
