  • Primary Uses or Exposures: Isoprene is mainly u sed to produce cis-1,4-polyisoprene. It is also used to produce butyl rubber (isobutene-isoprene copolymer); and thermoplastic, elastomeric co-block (SIS) polymers.
  • Nominated by: NIEHS
  • Basis for Nomination: IARC1 classification as possibly carcinogenic to humans based sufficient evidence in animals
  • Current Status: Listed in the RoC as reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen since the 9th RoC (2000)
