Summary of eRA Project Management

The eRA Project Management Team, established in early 2000, is responsible for guiding and monitoring the design and implementation of the electronic research administration (eRA) project at the NIH.  In all of its undertakings, the Project Management Team receives broad oversight and advice from the eRA Steering Committee.

Throughout planning, development, testing and execution, the eRA Office of Project Management provides project oversight, monitoring and coordination. The Office of Project Management works closely with the Project Management Team to determine the priorities for development activities, tracking them against the Project Management Plan. By creating a functional architecture for eRA, the System Architect provides a roadmap to Analysts and developers for migrating eRA systems into an integrated architecture.

The Operations (Ops) team manages the eRA technical infrastructure and provides monitoring, tuning, and problem resolution. The Ops team deploys new software and hardware. The Communications Office documents and communicates issues, decisions, and actions for the project through news updates and announcements, the eRA website, and other vehicles.
