Congressman Trent Franks Welcomes Significant Grant for the Hopi Tribe of Arizona

September 12, 2006—The Hopi Tribe will today receive a grant of $45,399 for the Homol’ovi Interpretive Project, which is funded by the Institute for Museums and Library Services. Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) welcomes the grant.

“Education in history and culture enables people today to relate to and learn from people from another time. The mission of this project will make richer our appreciation of the historical significance of the Hopi people.”

This project is a partnership between the Hopi Tribe and the Arizona State Parks. The goal of the partnership is to manage the Homol'ovi Ruins State Park, which includes four Hopi villages from the 13th century.

The Homol’ovi Interpretive Project would support the Homol’ovi Park Project by, among other things, improving the quality of the visitor center, and increasing involvement by members of the Hopi Tribe in the oversight of the park.

Trent Franks is the Congressman from the 2nd Congressional District of Arizona.  He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Judiciary Committee and Vice Chairman of the Constitution Subcommittee
