Thursday, January 15, 2009 – NIH Begins New Process to Report Detailed Funding Information
On January 15, 2009, the National Institutes of Health made public the results of a new process for providing detailed funding information for 215 major areas of research. The Research, Condition, and Disease Categorization (RCDC) process uses standard category definitions, knowledge management principles, and computerized tools to categorize research projects. The RCDC process was initiated at the request of Congress to provide consistent and transparent NIH research funding information. Categorized projects funded in FY 2008 can be found in the “Estimates of Funding for Various Diseases, Conditions, and Research Areas” table located on the RePORT site at www.report.nih.gov/rcdc/categories.
Tuesday, January 13, 2009 – NIH releases first Biennial Report of the Director under the NIH Reform Act
Dr. Raynard S. Kington, acting director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), published the first Biennial Report of the Director as required by NIH Reform Act of 2006 (Pub. L. 109-482) on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. This public release follows the submission of an administrative pre-print of the Report to Congress in early June.

The Report is available on the home page of the Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT) Web site or by going directly to http://biennialreport.nih.gov.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 – NIH Strategic Plans and Visions
The RePORT home page now includes a link to NIH strategic plans and visions. Here you will find information on the comprehensive strategic plan or vision of each NIH institute and center, including both published documents and information on those in the process of being updated. A separate tab on this page presents NIH-wide plans for several areas of trans-NIH research, and another section contains research plans for several topical areas.
Wednesday, October 15, 2008 – NIH Extramural Data Book and RePORT hit list enhancements
The hit lists resulting from report searches now include titles for each report. More detailed information (e.g., the ICs and activities included in the report) can be found by clicking on the small arrow (arrow) that appears next to the title. The searchable tags applied to each report are also more extensive, which will increase the likelihood of finding a report of interest.

A new version of the NIH Extramural Data Book (NEDB) is now accessible from the Reports, Data, and Analyses page. Unlike the Powerpoint version of the Data Book, the charts and tables in this new version are generated and updated automatically from a database of NIH statistics. This will increase NIH’s ability to provide timely information in the future. Eventually, we hope to provide the capability for users to download Powerpoint slides and Excel spreadsheets from this new database-driven NEDB. Until this is available, the Powerpoint and pdf versions of the NEDB will continue to be made available.

The original Office of Extramural Research Award Information & Data Web site and its major sections have been retired. All the content previously found on those web pages has been reorganized and can be found on the RePORT Web site. A table provides a mapping between information on the old and new sites. Please update your bookmarks to the new RePORT site. This table will be available until the end of November, 2008.

As always, we welcome your feedback! Use the feedback link found on each page.
Friday, February 29, 2008 - RePORT Reports, Data & Analyses Beta Web site launched
Welcome to the new NIH Reports, Data, and Analyses (RDA) web site. Simply browse or use one of several search tools to access standard reports and data.

We welcome your feedback! Use the feedback link on each page.

Please note that this new RDA web site will soon replace the current NIH Award Information and Data web site.
