Night Differential

Title 38 for Nurses and Allied Health Employees

Purpose of Authority

To provide additional compensation to nurses and allied health employees who work at night.

 

Who is Eligible?

Nurses and allied health employees assigned to Title 38 occupations. (See the Title 38 Occupational Coverage Chart.)

 

Provisions

All Title 38 nurses and allied health employees are paid an additional ten percent of the employee's hourly premium rate of basic pay for an entire schedule tour if at least four hours fall between 6 pm and 6 am. When less than four hours fall between 6 pm and 6 am, the employee receives ten percent of the premium hourly rate of basic pay for each hour worked between those times.

Title 38 employees are also paid night differential for overtime work at night, for night work on a holiday, and when substituting for another employee during night hours.
