About Evaluation of Large Initiatives
The Evaluation of Large Initiatives (ELI) is an evaluation team that assesses the outcomes and impact of large transdisciplinary team science initiatives funded by the Division of Cancer Control and Population Science, at the National Cancer Institute. Given the complexity of large transdisciplinary initiatives, ELI examines a broad range of outcomes of such initiatives including the antecedents, processes, and outcomes of transdisciplinary collaborations and the impact of such research on public health. ELI was established in 1999.

Goals
- Develop and test new metrics and methods of evaluating team science initiatives
- Comprehensively evaluate and empirically test the processes and outcomes of team science
- Develop theoretical frameworks and models for current and future evaluations of large-scale NCI research, training, and translational initiatives
- Systematically evaluate large-scale transdisciplinary initiatives as a basis for improving these programs and establishing an empirically-grounded science of team science
- Provide evaluation and research consultation to NCI grantees, intramural scientists, and administrators on the evaluation of transdisciplinary team initiatives
