Case Reviews

Due to the large volume of patients seen in the Neuro-Oncology Branch Brain Tumor Clinic, it is impossible to guarantee a case review date for patients.  Thus, the NOB urges all patients to make an appointment to be seen in person at the NIH.  Medical record and MRI scan reviews are offered as part of our service to patients with brain tumors. However, due to the large volume of patients who are seen by our clinical staff at the NIH no guarantees can be made regarding how long it will take to complete such a review.  Patients who are seeking a consultation in person at the NIH, however, are generally given appointments within two weeks of their initial call.

If a case review is available and the patient is eligible, our clinical team will review and discuss the medical history for the patient. After reviewing the necessary medical information (i.e., MRI scans, pathology and radiology reports, etc..) our clinical team will jointly make a decision as to treatment options for the patient. The opinion of our clinical team is discussed with the patient and/or his/her physician after the case has been reviewed.

To schedule an appointment or to learn more about how you may be eligible for a case review, please call (301) 594-6767 or call our toll-free number at

(866) 251-9686 for new patient inquiries only. For all other inquiries please call our main line at (301) 402-6298.
