CENTRAL ARKANSAS SCHOOL RECEIVES UPWARD BOUND VETERAN FUNDING

Little Rock, AR – U.S. Congressman Vic Snyder announced today that the Department of Education selected Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock to receive a grant in the amount of $219,806.00 every year for the next 5 years. The grant is awarded through the U.S. Department of Education under the Upward Bound Veterans Program. This is the first year that Pulaski Technical College has been funded this award.

"The Pulaski Technical College community really benefits from this worthwhile investment," said Congressman Vic Snyder.  "First generation veterans deserve the opportunity to succeed in their higher education goals.”

Upward Bound provides support to participants preparing for a postsecondary education program. The Veterans’ program opens opportunities to first generation military veterans who are preparing for college entrance. Upward Bound projects offer classes in mathematics, laboratory sciences, composition, literature, and foreign languages. Also supported are programs including tutoring, counseling, mentoring, cultural enrichment, and work-study. Increasing the rate of completion of secondary education and enrolling in and graduating from postsecondary educational institutions are the main goals of the Upward Bound projects.
