This unique study will assess cognitive, emotional and behavior change responses among a cohort of 500 men between the ages of 18-44 years who complete surveys every six months for two years. It will assess the cognitive and emotional responses to an HPV diagnosis, as measured by the Parallel Processing Model/Common Sense Model. Addressing the issues of HPV infection and transmission among men is of great concern given the connection of this virus to cervical and anal cancers. Understanding the emotional and cognitive responses of men to HPV diagnosis would inform educational and prevention interventions so as to include both men and women. Results of this study will expand knowledge and experience in understanding men’s response to HPV diagnosis in terms of their intentions and behaviors.
