  • Maryland Graduate Prepares for Next Shuttle Mission

    Teacher, scientist, world traveler, aquanaut, astronaut, Terp. NASA Mission Specialist Richard Arnold II has just about done it all on this earth. On February 12, he'll extend his experiences to another world... traveling to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Shuttle Discovery.
  • Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship Hosts Start-Up Bootcamp

    The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business has found a unique way to inject entrepreneurial spirit into campus activities with a Dingman Center Bootcamp. In Jan. 2009, under the Dingman Center's initiative, 28 University of Maryland students from diverse majors gathered at the Smith School to bring their business ideas to life in less than three weeks.
  • Former U.S. Archivist Joins iSchool Faculty

    The former Archivist of the United States - Allen Weinstein - will be joining the faculty of the University of Maryland's College of Information Studies (the iSchool) next month as a visiting professor.

    For the first time, scientists have successfully teleported information between two separate atoms in unconnected enclosures a meter apart - a significant milestone in the global quest for practical quantum information processing.
  • Kim Named Among Most Creative

    Fast Company Magazine has included Clark School benefactor, alumnus and Professor of the Practice Jeong H. Kim on its "12 Most Creative Minds of 2008" list. The Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building is named after Kim, who is the head of Bell Labs at Alcatel-Lucent.
