Approval
For exhibits estimated to cost under $5,000.00:
Request approval by memorandum in duplicate signed by the Director of
your organization, addressed to News Media Branch, Public Information
Office (PIO), Building 31, Room 5B52, 301-496-5895. Include the following
information about the proposed exhibit:
• Title
• Person responsible
• Sketch
• Description of the contents and illustrations (including text
of proposed presentation)
• Approximate size and cost
• By whom to be designed
• By whom to be constructed
• Intended audience, specific meeting at which the exhibit is to
be presented, or special audience, and planned future use
• Organizational identification to be shown
For exhibits estimated to cost over $5,000.00:
Submit 3 copies of Form DHHS 524, Request for Approval, to the News Media
Branch, PIO, Building 31, Room 5B52, 301-496-5895. Attach a narrative
statement to supplement the Form DHHS 524, describing the purpose and
intended use of the exhibit and a description of the contents and illustrations.
Note: Ample time must be allowed to negotiate procurement of services
for construction of all exhibits.
Content and Identification:
All exhibits are prepared in accordance with NIH Manual 1181 (particularly
as to fulfillment of information objectives) and other pertinent regulations.

and required identifying imprimatur, call News Media Branch, Public Information
Office (PIO), 301-496-5895.
Design and Fabrication:
When approval is received, contact the Division of Medical Arts and Printing
Service (DMAPS), ORS, Building 10, Room B2L126. Technical consultation and
estimates available upon request: call Design Services, DMAPS, ORS,
301-496-5566.
Storage:
Storage Facilities are available for reusable exhibits at a commercial
transfer and storage company, which also provides for withdrawal from
storage and shipment of NIH exhibits to exhibit sites. Submit requests
for exhibit storage to Chief, Standards and Specifications Section, DP,
OA, 301-486-4814, indicating the title of the exhibit, IC, common account
number, number of crates or cartons, crate numbers, and the responsible
official’s name, extension, building and room number. For additional
