The NIH Training Center, OD, HCG, provides direct oversight of the Learning Management System (LMS), also known as the HHS Learning Portal. The NIH LMS Team provides specialized expertise to assist organizations in improving organizational and employee performance through technology-based learning, performance, and knowledge systems.
The LMS was implemented in June 2007 and serves as a single point of entry for HHS employees and contractors for all training events, online and classroom, internal and external. The LMS provides a centralized training location for all employee training activities, competencies (both NIH-wide and IC-specific), learning plans and much more. The NIH LMS Team is chartered to assist ICs with migrating all NIH training systems and training courses into the LMS.
Some of the services LMS provides are:
- Free on-line courses and Books 24x7 available through Skillsoft
- Registration and management for a wide variety of training events
- Compliance reporting for all NIH mandated training
- Employee training history
- Creation of employee Learning Plans
- Individual competency assessment
- Printable training certificates
- Online collaboration space
Many other services are also available through the LMS. For additional information about the LMS and how you can use this technology to improve your organization’s performance; contact Kim Hill, 301-496-6211, HillK@mail.nih.gov .
