Almost 24 million people nationwide have diabetes. Although making healthy food choices on a budget can be a challenge, it is possible to eat well without spending a lot of time and money. The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) has a new feature article that provides tips to help people with diabetes eat well and save time while staying on a budget. “People with Diabetes: Eating Right When Money’s Tight” offers suggestions such as reviewing store ads and clipping coupons, buying produce from local farmers’ markets, and making meals and snacks at home instead of buying prepackaged and processed foods.
