As part of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative
Medicine's Distinguished Lectures in the Science of Complementary
and Alternative Medicine, NCCAM has invited David Spiegel,
M.D. to speak about mind/body interventions in the medical
setting. He will explore the use of hypnosis in managing
illness as well as discuss group support for cancer patients.
Dr. David Spiegel is Professor and Associate Chair of Psychiatry
& Behavioral Sciences, Director of the Psychosocial
Treatment Laboratory, and Medical Director of the Center
for Integrative Medicine at Stanford Medical Center. He
has published six books and 300 journal articles and chapters
on psychosocial oncology, hypnosis, and psychotherapy.
