  • Current Antivirus support for Windows Vista (Updated 12/08/06 1:15pm)

McAfee and Symantec have released the final versions of their antivirus packages for use with Windows Vista. They are: McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i and Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2 respectively. These products replace the Beta versions that were originally released for testing purposes.

For Systems Administrators using ePO, please note that you must use the most current Common Management Agent (Version 3.6.0) before you deploy the VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i product.

    Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2

  • ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) and NTLMv2 (Updated 11/03/06 2:00pm)

CIT has been made aware that there are some problems with ePO when using NTLMv2 authentication. Versions of ePO prior to 3.6.1 are not supported for use with NTLMv2. McAfee has released ePO version 3.6.1 and has stated this is compatible in environments using NTLMv2. For versions less than 3.6.1, McAfee recommends changing to SQL authentication rather then using Windows NT authentication.
Please note that McAfee has just released ePO 3.6.1. This has not been tested by CIT in an NTLMv2 environment.

For more information from McAfee see KB Article 46178

For information regarding changing MSDE to accept SQL authentication from Microsoft see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=322336.
