Photo of Gitanjali Taneja, PhDDr. Taneja joined the Program Office to serve as a Study Center Project Officer and to assist with protocol development, particularly in the areas of child development, behavior, and mental health. She earned her MA and PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Prior to joining the National Children’s Study, Dr. Taneja conducted research in a variety of different areas. As a post-doctoral fellow at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center, she studied pre-kindergarten programs and early child care. As a Research Fellow at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, she conducted studies on the epidemiology of childhood injuries, injuries among youth with developmental disabilities, adolescent depression, and child maltreatment. She also served as a Senior Study Director at WESTAT on a large multi-site study of adults with psychiatric disabilities.
