Photo of Ruth A. Brenner, MD, MPHDr. Brenner received a Medical Degree from the University of Maryland and a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She completed a Pediatric Internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a Pediatric Residency at Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Brenner came to NIH in 1991, as a researcher in the Epidemiology Branch of the Division of Epidemiology, Statistics, and Prevention Research. Her research has focused largely on the epidemiology and prevention of childhood injuries with a secondary focus on the identification of factors that influence parental attitudes and behaviors regarding child-rearing practices. Dr. Brenner joined the National Children’s Study Program Office in 2003 to assist the Institute with the planning and development of the National Children’s Study. Within the Program Office, she is the Associate Director for Science and Director for Study Centers. In this capacity, her responsibilities include leading a team of professional scientists in development and implementation of the Study at the Study Centers.
