#998Introduction to Inkscape, An Open Source Software for Illustration
 
Description:
Inkscape is an excellent vector graphics editor. It has many of the same capabilities in Adobe Illustrator, but is open source and freely available. Inkscape runs on several operating systems including Windows, Mac, and different flavors of Unix. This hands-on style presentation will help new users get started with Inkscape and will also explore useful advanced features that are available in the software.

Objectives:
Participants will explore the following:
  • Vector graphics Vs Bitmap images
  • Why Inkscape?
  • Inkscape menu options
  • Draw basic structures using simple tools
  • Add complexity to your creation using advanced tools like layers, paths and effects
  • Producing high quality images for publications and presentations
Who should attend:
NIH staff who want to create stunning high quality graphics and illustrations for publications and presentations.
