NIH 2001 Administratively Determined Pay Comparability Increases

Effective January 14, 2001

January 5, 2001

TO:              IC Directors

FROM:        Director of Human Resources, NIH

SUBJECT:   Comparability Increases for NIH Employees Whose Pay is Administratively
                    Determined

The NIH Director has approved comparability increases effective January 14, 2001 for NIH employees appointed in the SBRS, as Special Experts, under Section 209(f) and (g) of Title 42, and in Senior Level/Scientific and Professional Positions (SL/ST).   The increase for employees whose salaries on January 13, 2001 are at or below ES-3, is 3.8 percent for employees in Washington, D.C. and 3.6 percent in other locations where NIH has employees.  The increase for employees whose salaries are above ES-3 is 2.7 percent regardless of their location.  The increases must be rounded to the nearest $100.

Included in the increase are employees in the following systems:

Increases for members of the SBRS are subject to the statutory pay cap of EX-I ($161,200).

No increase may result in any employee receiving a salary in excess of $200,000.

Increases will be processed centrally for employees of ICs under the central NIH authority (i.e., TD 39) and for all ST/SL employees.  ICs with their own authority should process increases (other than ST/SL employees) themselves.
