Biosketch

A graduate of Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Frederick P. Ognibene fulfilled internship and residency requirements in internal medicine at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center.  In 1982, Dr. Ognibene came to the National Institutes of Health as a clinical fellow, later becoming, and then became a senior investigator in the Clinical Center's Critical Care Medicine Department.

Dr. Ognibene served as director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Training Program and co-chaired the NIH Graduate Medical Education Committee for clinical fellows in accredited training programs until May 2003.  He was then appointed director of the newly established Office of Clinical Research Training and Medical Education.  In this role, Dr. Ognibene is responsible for the clinical research educational programs in the NIH Clinical Center Center.  In addition, he leads the NIH clinical research training program for medical and dental students.

He also is an attending physician in the CC’s Critical Care Medicine Department, an associate clinical professor in the Department of Medicine, George Washington University School of Medicine, and adjunct associate professor, Department of Anesthesiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine.
