NLST Screening Centers

In February 2004, nearly 50,000 current or former smokers had joined NLST at more than 30 study sites across the country. The trial is now closed to further enrollment.

In addition to the CT scans and chest X-rays that all the centers will do, some - those that are part of a cooperative group sponsored by the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) - will also collect samples of participants' blood, urine, or sputum (phlegm) for biomarker studies.
