Breast and Colon Cancer Family Registries

For Families: Can I Participate?

The Breast and Colon Cancer Family Registries have made significant progress in the enrollment of families and are currently in the second phase of enrollment of specific populations, for example minority families.

Your family might be eligible to participate in the registries if you or a family member falls within the criteria listed below. Please note that the individual sites might have additional criteria that enrollees must meet, for example date of diagnosis of cancer or residing within a geographic region. Breast Cancer Family Registry Criteria:

  1. Minority Enrollment (diagnosed with breast cancer and are of Latina, African-American, Chinese, Japanese, or Filipina race/ethnicity)
      Specific Registries:
      - Northern California Cooperative Family Registry for Breast Cancer
      - Metropolitan New York Registry
      - Family Risk Assessment Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center (Philadelphia)
      - Ontario Familial Breast Cancer Registry (including South Asian, Native Indian/Inuit, Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, or other East Asian).

Colon Cancer Family Registry Criteria:

  1. Early-onset (Diagnosed with colon cancer under the age of 50)
      Specific Registries:
      - Mayo Colorectal Cancer Family Registry
      - Seattle Familial Colorectal Cancer Registry
      - USC Consortium: University of Arizona; University of Colorado; Dartmouth Medical School; University of Minnesota
      - Ontario Familial Colon Cancer Registry
      - Hawaii Family Registry of Colon Cancer
      - Australian Colorectal Cancer Family Study (under age 45)


  2. High-risk family history of colon cancer (3 or more cases of colon cancer in family)
      Specific Registries:
      - Mayo Colorectal Cancer Family Registry
      - USC Consortium: Cleveland Clinic
      - Australian Colorectal Cancer Family Study


  3. Minority Enrollment (Diagnosed with colon cancer and are of African-American or Japanese race/ethnicity)
      Specific Registries:
      - USC Consortium: University of Southern California and University of North Carolina
      - Hawaii Family Registry of Colon Cancer
