NIHTC Inclement Weather Policy

When there is inclement weather and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announces Federal Government office closures, delays or unscheduled leave policy is in effect, please see below regarding the status of your training class.

  • If the Federal Government is closed, all training classes will not run and will be rescheduled. (For multi-day classes, subsequent sessions will be held as scheduled unless they are also affected by Federal Government closure.)
  • If the Federal Government is open under delayed arrival of two hours or MORE:
    • Multi-day classes will start by the same amount of time as the delay (if the delay is 2 hours and the original start was 8:30am the class will start at 10:30am) and you are expected to attend. If you do not attend you will be counted as a no show on the attendance roster and your IC will be charged for the class.
    • Training Classes that are one day OR shorter are cancelled and will be rescheduled.
  • If the Federal Government is open under delayed arrival of less than two hours, classes will start late by the same amount of time as the delayed arrival (if there was a 1 hour delay and the class was scheduled for 8:30am it would start at 9:30am) and you are expected to attend. If you do not attend you will be counted as a no show on the attendance roster and your IC will be charged for the class.
  • If the Federal Government announces an unscheduled leave policy, all training classes will be held as scheduled and you are expected to attend. If you do not attend, you will be counted as a no show on the attendance roster, and your IC will be charged for the class.
  • If the Federal Government announces an early dismissal all classes will close according to the schedule, for example if the dismissal is two hours early all classes will end at 3pm (2 hours early from 5pm). For any classes cancelled two hours early or LESS, they will not be rescheduled. For any classes cancelled more than 2 hours from the original end time, they will be reviewed on a case by case basis with the instructor to decide if rescheduling is needed.
