SEE ALSO: The Clinical Research Networks project—part of the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research—is intended to promote and expand clinical research informatics networks that can rapidly facilitate high-quality clinical studies that address multiple research questions. To accomplish this goal, an Inventory and Evaluation of Clinical Research Networks (IECRN) has assessed and created a free Web-searchable database of the existing networks. Also, twelve feasibility projects explored how to enhance the clinical research infrastructure by expanding and integrating existing clinical research networks that currently serve academic centers and community-based health care providers. READ MORE VIEW THE FINAL REPORT (915KB PDF) The results of the inventory and the feasibility projects will assist in the development of the Clinical Research Networks and National Electronics Clinical Trials and Research Network (NECTAR), an informatics infrastructure that will serve as the backbone for interconnected and interoperable research networks.
