Rogers Fighting for
Tuskegee Memorial Funding
Macon County’s Congressman Pushing to
Jump-Start Memorial’s Planning Phase

Washington, DC  -  Key funding for the Tuskegee National Memorial is possible this year, according to Macon County’s representative in Congress, U.S. Representative Mike Rogers.

“When it comes to the Tuskegee Memorial, I will do whatever is in my power to be of assistance,” Rogers said. “This project will help make the Tuskegee community even more of a national treasure, and I am very hopeful that we can get it up and running.”

Over the past two years, money for the Tuskegee Memorial has been authorized, but only a fraction has been appropriated. To get the project moving, Rogers has made it a top priority to get additional dollars appropriated for the project’s planning phase. He made the announcement today during on-going negotiations with the House Interior Subcommittee on Appropriations.

“While I still can’t say exactly how much money I might be able to obtain, I can say we’re working very hard on it,” Rogers added. “I’ve been working closely with Macon County’s leaders to get this done, even in tight budget times, and I believe we’ll be successful.”
