Rogers: Remember Our Troops This Holiday Season
Encourages East Alabamians to send greetings and thanks

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, Congressman Mike Rogers said today he encourages folks in East Alabama to once again remember the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform serving overseas.

Rogers said one way for folks to show their support is by sending to participate in the Holiday Mail for Heroes Program sponsored by the American Red Cross, which sends holiday cards to our brave service men and women.  Over 600,000 pieces of mail were sent out during the holiday season of 2007.

Rogers said this year the Red Cross has set a goal of one million cards to be sent and distributed to not only service members, but their families and veterans across the globe.
“Our men and women in uniform sacrifice for us each and every day. These types of programs are a great way to help all of us let our troops know we love them, miss them, and they are in our prayers,” Rogers said.

Rogers said folks can find out how to participate by visiting www.redcross.org/holidaymail or visit his website at www.house.gov/mike-rogers for more information.
