FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I submit a public release request?

A: Please visit the DARPA Public Release Requests page for details on how to submit a request.

Q: Does DARPA have a historian? How do I find information on past DARPA programs?

A: DARPA does not have a historian, and DARPA’s technical staff serves on the order of four to six years, so finding information on past DARPA programs is sometimes quite difficult. Often the best sources of information on past DARPA programs are the contractors who worked on the program. Additional information about past programs can be found in DARPA's History section or in the DARPA Historical Bibliography listings.

Q: Where can I find historical information about the origins of the Internet and/or ARPANET?

A: A bibliography of sources of information on the history of the Internet and ARPANET is linked as well as an article featuring DARPA and the Internet Revolution.

Q: How do I obtain a high resolution version of the DARPA logo?

A: At this time DARPA is not able to approve use of the DARPA logo. We are in the process of developing a formal trademark licensing program, and have had to put a moratorium on logo use until we have the program in place. Within the next six to 12 months, we hope to have details available.

Q: How do I get a list of contracts awarded under one of DARPA’s Broad Agency Announcements?

Many of DARPA’s contract awards are announced in the Federal Business Opportunities website or via a DoD contract press release, but these sources do not indicate under which solicitation the award was made. A list of contracts awarded for a particular solicitation can be obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request. Other possible sources of information on awarded contracts for the Federal government in general include:

Q: How do I request a DARPA speaker at my event?

A: DARPA does not have a formal speaker’s bureau. The best way to request a speaker is to visit the websites of the DARPA technical offices to determine which offices have expertise in your topic, and, in particular, which program manager is managing a program of interest to your audience. Contact a specific program manager to invite him or her to speak at your event.

Q: How do I invite DARPA staff to attend my conference?

A: DARPA is not able to advertise specific events. If you visit the websites of DARPA’s technical offices, you can determine which offices may be interested in attending your event, and, in particular, which program managers might be particularly interested. Search DARPA's staff and programs to invite a program manager to attend.
