Position Description: The postdoctoral fellow will join in our effort to develop a novel approach to determine global architectures of large RNA molecules in solution using NMR and small angle X-ray scattering to study the structural biology of 3 UTR of mRNAs critical for gene regulation. Specifically, in terms of methodology development, we are developing a new method, which uses global restraints such as orientation and shape, to derive global architecture of large RNA molecules. We call it a top-down approach, as compared to current prevailing bottom-up approach. This research program offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual who seeks a career in structural biology/NMR spectroscopy. Postdoctoral appointment is for up to 5 years and the fellowship stipend starts from $44,300 per annum (2008) depending on experience and qualification, plus medical insurance for the fellow and the immediate family members. US Citizenship is not required.
Experience Required: Strong training in protein or nucleic acid hetero-nuclear multi-dimension NMR spectroscopy and computation skills are highly desired.
Additional Information: SBL laboratory is equipped with two 600, one 700 and one 800 high field NMR spectrometers. We are also a member of NIH 900 MHz consortium.
Location: NCI-Frederick
