Changing the Face of Medicine Exhibition Honors Great U.S. Women Physicians When: October 14, 2003April 1, 2005 Where: NIH Campus, Bethesda, MD Institute: National Library of Medicine (NLM) Changing the Face of Medicine is an exhibition open to the public that explores the achievements of women in medicine since they first gained admission to American medical schools 150 years ago. These women overcame prejudice and discrimination to create and broaden opportunities within the professsion. Persistence, ingenuity, and ability enabled them to advance in all areas of science and medicine. They are among the best of America's women physicians, and their stories and journeys are detailed in this exhibition.
