Developmental Endocrinology
Head: Carolyn A. Bondy
Developmental Endocrinology investigates fundamental issues in human reproduction, growth and development. Researchers employ genetic, biochemical and physiological approaches to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying clinical disorders seen in our reproductive, pediatric and adult endocrinology clinics and wards. Current projects focus upon the role of steroid and peptide hormones in growth, bone mineralization and reproduction, the genetic and epigenetic interactions in the development of obesity, the basic mechanisms of ovarian follicular function and dysfunction in disorders such as premature menopause and polycystic ovary syndrome, identifying genetic origins of endocrine tumors and defining the roles of CRH and vassopressin in stress responses.
