Date: 18 May 2007From: Helix Systems Staff (staff@helix.nih.gov)
To Helix Systems Email users, As a result of a new Federal security mandate, by Monday, May 21, 2007, all NIH users with a Non-Outlook Email Client such as Eudora, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or Outlook Express must enable password encryption in order to connect to NIH Email systems. If you access Email on the NIH Helix system and you haven't configured your Email client to enable password encryption, then you may experience problems Monday morning. This is an easy feature to enable and will ensure that your password is protected during communications with NIH Email servers. Follow this link for specific instructions on your particular Non-Outlook Email Client http://support.nih.gov/program_updates/KBdocs/email/POP_IMAP_SSL.htm There is no impact on the performance of your email, but you must enable password encryption before May 21, 2007.
