Biosketch:
Dr. Barbara Woynarowska earned her Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland. Dr. Woynarowska received several years of post-doctoral training in the area of biochemical pharmacology at the Technical University of Gdansk and later at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo NY, where she subsequently worked as a junior faculty in the field of cancer biology and metastasis. Dr. Woynarowska continued her cancer research as Associate Professor and laboratory head at the Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, TX.  She has been a Principal Investigator on several peer reviewed grants from the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society and many research grants from pharmaceutical industry. Her particular expertise and scientific accomplishments as independent investigator are in the fields of cell biology/signal transduction/apoptosis in the context of the mechanisms of action of novel anti-tumor agents directed against prostate cancer. She joined the Review Branch as a Scientific Review Administrator in 2004.
